This page introduces the HySDS Core graphical user interface (GUI), nicknamed “Tosca”. On this page operators can refine their data search to meet specified criteria before submitting it for further processing. This refinement is known as “faceting” and encompasses a wide range of options such as: geographical, time, satellite source, and processing levels (L0, L1, etc). Facets are cumulative, and are not limited in number; each additional facet further refines and narrows the preceding target data’s scope. Once an operator is finished faceting their desired data, the job request is submitted for either immediate or recurring future processing.

Reference Guide for the HySDS Core Interface:

Note: faceting options (left vertical menu options) vary among HySDS Core adaptations. In this example, the facets are specific to the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) Mission.

  1. Menu Bar:

    1. Home - Navigates to the home page of Tosca

    2. Facet Search - Resets and clears all search options and returns to the main Facet Search page

    3. Jobs - Directs the user to the Mozart Job Manager GUI.

    4. My Rules - Lists all Trigger Rules set by a user

    5. Logout - Logs a user out of HySDS

  2. Faceting Options:

    1. Type - Limit the visible products to a selected type

    2. Dataset - Limit products to a specific dataset

    3. Dataset Version - Further refine a dataset to a specific version

    4. Machine Tags - Filter by selected machine generated tags

    5. Start Date - Show only results originating from the selected month

    6. Stop Date - Show only results completed in the selected month

    7. Temporal Span - Filter results fitting the selected temporal span (measured in days)

    8. Region - Limit results to only the selected region

    9. Subregion - Limit results to only the selected subregion

  3. Sub-Faceting Options:

    1. ? - View search help information

    2. 15 - Default list size

    3. Count - Filters the value order

    4. Range - Make a range selection on filter

  4. Sort/Help:

    1. Clear - The 'x' button clears all selected search options

    2. Help - The '?' displays a help box of quick tips

    3. Results - To change the number of results shown

  5. Facet Search:

    1. This search bar allows operators to search using targeted terms, or user-defined tags, to narrow the available results displayed. Note: all entries must be in “quotations”

  6. Job/Data Management:

    1. Trigger Rules - A trigger rule is a predefined action that will be triggered when the desired input is detected.

    2. On-Demand - For immediate job processing. An operator can specify the desired job parameters using this pop-up window. Note: Processing times can vary according to current server workload, and requested job priority. On-Demand job request Instructions.

    3. Dataset Downloads - Files contained within a dataset can be accessed and downloaded to a user’s local machine via this option. Clicking the dataset downloads button will apply to all of the datasets that are faceted upon.

  7. Share Faceted Link:

    1. Generates a customized shareable URL link with all applied facets.
